Register’s Auto Collision originally opened in 1975 in Wilmington on Harley Road in the same location where the current Harley Road Shop is housed. Steve Register, President and owner of Register’s Auto Collision, worked for his father for a number of years, before taking over the business in 1980, when his father passed away. Steve ran the business along with his brother, Shane, until 1998, when Shane sold his share of the business. Steve was running the Hampstead Shop at the time. He then opened a second shop in Wilmington.
In 2004, Steve further expanded to add a large shop in Monkey Junction in South Wilmington.
Then came the newest location in Leland, which opened for business in April 2014.
“It takes quite an investment to open a collision shop, due to the cost of equipment,” said Steve. “Precise measuring instruments, massive frame straighteners, state-of-the-art Standox spray booths and paint formulation equipment, not to mention the myriad of tools necessary to disassemble and reassemble automobiles, all come with hefty price tags. But you can’t do the job right without the proper tools and equipment.”
